PPC’s work presented at national health care advocacy conference in DC Ann Woloson, Executive Director, presented PPC’s work to promote evidenced-based prescribing at the 2012 Annual Families USA Health Action Conference held in Washington DC from January 19-21st. The conference was attended by nearly 700 advocates and policy makers from across the country who participated in a number of presentations by local and national experts regarding the status and implementation of the Affordable Health Care Act. Keynote and other featured speakers included Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Dr. Atul Gawande, Dr. Ezekeil Emanual and Celinda Lake. PPC’s work with consumers, providers and payers was featured as part of the conference Prescription Policy Update. Woloson discussed PPC’s work to promote academic detailing (nonbiased prescriber education), Consumer Reports Health Best Buy Drugs and AARP’s Drug Savings Tool. She also discussed PPC’s work with private and public payers to promote publicly available, evidenced-based, comparative effectiveness resources in benefit design and decision making in an effort to improve health quality and reduce health care costs in the US. Other presenters included Marcia Hams from Community Catalyst and Gabrielle Cosel from the Pew Health Trust.
